Spring into Bling

Published March 28, 2012 by Jennifer C.

Spring is officially here and the weather is warm and the weekend BBQ’s are about to begin. Stand out at the weekend gatherings with your own DIY personalized bling koozie!!!

First you will want to start with a foam koozie. I buy mine from  Hobby Lobby for 99 cents. Than you will choose a fabric to wrap it in. I have applied felt, fabric, etc. And of course your colored feather boa of choice. (all purchased at hobby lobby as well)

Apply a fabric glue to the koozie and wrap it. I cut it after I am done wrapping the koozie.

Secure with rubber bands and let it dry

I used the same glue to apply the feather boa. I have also used hot glue and even tried to sew it on. The fabric glue has worked the best so far.

I added a line of rhinestones to cover the seam

But here are some others:

This was my first one I made. A more simple design on the letter

Here is a guide you could use when doing the rhinestone letters:

Stand out and Shine this spring! :)

Glitter Addiction

Published March 16, 2012 by Jennifer C.

I was outside playing with my dogs yesterday when my neighbor called me over and said she had something for me. I met her over at the fence and she hands me a thing of glitter paint. She said I heard you are addicted…..Really? I am the talk of the town now. The glitter addict. I am sure it didn’t help the fact that I was covered in glitter and spray paint when she called me over. But since she offered of COURSE I had to use it right away. The original project I was working on prior to her calling me over was this first piece that turned out really cute.

Start with a candle holder or any type of glass

Add a hot glue design

I used this spray paint. It was an accidental purchase but ended up working really nice on glass. I guess the main use for this type of spray is for silk flowers. It is not as thick so it gave it some transparency which I liked.

Next spray paint over the hot glue design

And of course, I had to add bling

I love the end result with the candle inside

Now on to the one that has glitter! I did the same process as before. Slightly different design.

This is the glitter paint that I added. Thanks Kate.

And the finished product!

The glitter dried very nice on this product. I know it is kind of hard to see in the pictures. But this is my favorite piece so far!

Have Fun!

Jersey Shore Bling

Published March 13, 2012 by Jennifer C.

This past weekend I was out celebrating my best friend’s birthday at a night Club called Opera in Downtown Atlanta. We decided at midnight that we were going to live it up and go see Pauly D from Jersey Shore DJ. We did not make it to the club until 1 am. Immediately after arriving and paying WAY too much money to see his pretty little face we thought to ourselves WHAT are we doing, We are too old for this. It was packed wall to wall. After a drink and loosening up some we ended up on the stage dancing just feet from Pauly D. Totally worth it in the end :)

This inspired me to post about my Snooki glasses that I made a couple of years for my Snooki Halloween costume. Jersey shore is all about the bling!

I knew I first needed to find a big pair of glasses. I searched and searched and the best thing I came up with was a pair of safety glasses from Home Depot. Something similar to this:

I then went to Hobby Lobby and bought lots of rhinestones, of all sizes and shapes. I hot glued the rhinestones to the glasses and they seem to hold up well but on my next pair I may play with a different glue, something that is a little more flexible.  Here is the finished product.

They are surprisingly easy to see through but I would not suggest driving with them on. Also, be careful not to put the rhinestones past the glasses on the bottom or anywhere that will come in contact with your skin because they can be sharp.

Have fun!

Hello world!

Published March 6, 2012 by Jennifer C.

Well I am finally giving in. I am joining the Blogging world. Honestly, I have no idea what I am getting myself into but it is exciting. I came to work today with a nice little surprise on my desk.

So if this first blog starts out a little shaky they should get better by what I learn in the blogging for dummies book….hopefully.

I decided to join the blogging world because as many, many others, I have become addicted to Pinterest. I have so many projects I have started and would love to share with the world. I love BLING. What girl doesn’t? If everything I owned was covered in glitter, diamonds or rhinestones, I would wake up every morning with a smile on my face. I was raised a tom boy and still am but I still have a girly side and nothing makes me happier than things that shine.

The other thing that makes me happy is SAVING MONEY!!! Who doesn’t love that feeling. After years of working in the wholesale distribution industry I have learned how much stuff is truly marked up and it makes me sick. I cannot buy anything that is not on sale. For an example. I went to Kohl’s last weekend (my favorite store) I found a sweatshirt that my boyfriend has been wanting all winter. It was priced at $85.00. I just couldn’t bring myself to pay that much for a sweatshirt. (sorry babe) BUT this weekend I did buy it. It was on sale for 5 DOLLARS!! YES, 5 DOLLARS!!!! You know they are not going to sell an item below cost. They are still making money off of that item. That just shows how much they make off of us.  I have also started couponing. I love the Krazy coupon ladies. I love shopping at Publix but as we all know they are probably one of the most expensive grocery stores. But with coupons and their BOGO deals I have learned how to get out of there with saving lots and lots of money. This is another passion of mine that I would love to share tips on. Because I had to teach myself and it wasn’t the easiest thing to learn.

So I guess that is it….I will be sharing lots of DIY BLING and saving money tips. Hope you enjoy! :)
